"As to José Bové, it is a caricature to describe his actions and those of his comrades as " violent". They have never used physical violence (unlike the other farmers' unions for instance FNSEA), but selected a few symbolical "targets" - MacDonald's, genetically altered crops - to make political points. They enjoy wide support in France and in the third world. I can testify that in Porto Alegre (Brazil) the thousands of participants to the closing session of the World Social Forum (the vast majority of them from Latin America) gave him a standing ovation and chanted "We are all José Bovés". This should make people think twice before using the clichés propagated by hostile media."
